Why do we like robot vacuums?

In the Navy, they call a mop and a bucket, a Cadillac. This of course, is just a further twist on military sarcasm; and depends on whether or not the setup comes with the wheels and the right wringer. Anything that makes the job of a sailor easier gets its own nickname, regardless of how big or small an improvement. One could say that Roombas are the same way: There is a nicely named model to fit every budget, to make housecleaning easier in its own unique way. Only, this cleaning device is no joke, watch this:

Why we believe Roombas are state of the art.

The iRobot Roomba now comes in four distinct models (650, 770, 870 and 880), ranging in price from approximately from $399 to $699; all with the same basic design but more accessories to fit the bill. In addition to the base Performance Cleaning System, the guts that include the beater bars and vacuum motor all housed within a sleek, round body; there are attractive add-ons such as the automatic Virtual Wall® Lighthouse™ pylons and the manual remote control. So, an owner can sit back and drive this serious cleaning machine while driving the cat nuts, or just let the pre-selected program of problem rooms run its own course.

Of course, getting all the bells and whistles is always tempting for the connoisseurs of cleaning; which is why iRobot has lowered the price recently on the high-end models like the Roomba 870 and Roomba 880. The incentive is to get the full experience; because in the end, a convenient and thorough way to clean the whole house is worth its weight in gold. There are the iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot For Pets Allergies and Roomba 650 models for those who want to enter the world of hands-free vacuuming gently. But once an iRobot Roomba owner experiences first-hand the pleasure of never picking up a heavy vacuum cleaner again, the purchase of the next higher model will be tempting. Why not have a spare, especially if you have a multi-story home?

One thing that Roomba owners rave about the most is the lack of clogs. The rubber counter-rotating agitators working like soft fingers never get bound by bunched up hairs. We all know what it is like to tease the long strands out of brush beaters on a traditional vacuum cleaner. It usually takes longer than the actual suction job. There is also the changing of bags that is a real drag. In most iRobot Roomba reviews, the point is often repeated that there is only a tray to be emptied when the Roomba alerts you that it is full. With such an efficient flow of debris from the AeroForce™ Extractors through the Airflow Accelerator past the HEPA clean air filter, there is no need for bags that simply breathe dirty dust.

Another feature that Roomba owners love is its Home Base where their Roomba returns on its own automatically for recharging when it has completed cleaning. It can complete an entire cleaning cycle without quitting due to its new XLife™ Battery which delivers twice as many cleaning cycles as previous Roomba batteries. This not only saves time, but also saves money; because Roomba owners only need to replace their batteries half as often.

Customers are amazed at some of the more subtle aspects of the new Roomba series, such as the Dirt Detect Series 2. This advanced technology uses optical and acoustic sensors to find dirt and perform concentrated cleaning. Customers like to watch this feature in action, because it resembles a creature hunting and honing in on its prey. Spots that may be invisible to the human eye suddenly get hovered over and hugged by the Roomba until they are truly clean. This is part of the Persistent Pass Cleaning Method, designed with human back-and-forth movements in mind. Then, the Roomba goes back to it normal routine of roving for the daily dirt.

Some customers were initially hesitant to leave their Roomba upstairs, until they discovered that it comes with Cliff-detection sensors that keep it from dropping over any ledge. This is similar to its Wall-Following Technology which allows it to clean closely along every wall edge. The only shortcomings of Roomba(r) so far are its inability to avoid really greasy, messy spills; and its inability to clean tight corners. Rest assured that iRobot is working on these with innovations as we speak. They already have the iRobot Scooba® floor scrubber. In the meantime, the latest series of Roomba® is by far the most technologically advanced automatic vacuum cleaner available on the market.
